Bugatti shows its excellence once again with its hypercar, the Divo. The French car manufacturer will exclusively build only 40 pieces of this stunning car – and they have all already been sold. In fact, the hypercar was sold out in its first day of availability.
The Divo is an evolution of the Chiron but was redesigned as they share the same platform and powertrain. The Collectors Circle took a closer look to the 1.479 horsepower strong Divo whose shape reminds us a bit of a mean white shark. The car is named after Alberto Divo, a two-time champion at Targa Florio, and has an eight-litre quad-turbo W-16 engine. (For those who don’t know, The Targa Florio is the oldest sports car racing event, founded in 1906, and it was held in the mountains of Sicily, Italy)
The car takes inspiration from the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic along with the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept. The top speed of the Divo is limited to 380 km/h (236 mph) and comes from the 1.103 kW (1.500 PS; 1.479 hp) mid-engine. The acceleration from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) of the 1.961 kg heavy Divo remains unchanged to the Chiron and lies with 2.4 seconds in a time frame. This is what we’d expect from an engine that delivers 6700 rpm and 1,600 N⋅m (1,180 lb⋅ft) of torque.
Although the Divo and the Chiron have so many similarities, they are still different in so many ways – at least the typical Bugatti characteristics remain the same: the giant horseshoe shaped grille; the centre line that runs from the hood over the roof of the car; and the coop-shaped signature lines on the doors.
Why isn’t this a car for everyone? Because the price tag is USD 5.8 million. That being said, we’re pretty sure that we will see one of these outstanding hypercars very soon in Zürich after the first deliveries are made – if not here, where else?!
Summary
Brand:
Bugatti
Model:
Divo
Price:
Approximately USD 5.8 million
When to drive:
The Collectors Circle is pretty sure it would be fun to drive this stunner through a Swiss mountain pass-route or on the German Autobahn. But beware, you will probably get some dirty looks from haters if you own one of the Divos.
What we love about the car:
The car is limited to only 40 units worldwide, which makes it super rare and really hard to find. The Divo is a car that belongs in every collectors’ private inventory but only 40 of you will be lucky enough to have it.
